But Bangladesh has reported an increase in terror activity, including the recruitment of new members as well as increased contact between terrorists and foreign groups. Earlier this month, a busted cell of the JMB was found to have dispatched two fighters to Sri Lanka’s northwestern town of Batticaloa to carry out a suicide attack. The police had launched an operation in two suburbs of the city which came as a shock to the residents of the area. On Wednesday, a joint police team launched an operation in Guwahati in the northeast of India to arrest six Bangladeshis who are allegedly involved in terrorist activity. They are suspected of links with the banned Bangladeshi terror group. On Tuesday, Indian police arrested one of the suspected operatives of the JMB in West Bengal and recovered arms and ammunition in a raid carried out on a guest house on the outskirts of Kolkata. In October last year, Indian police had busted a terror module belonging to the JMB.
